Aktuelle Positionen der Klangkunst, Medienkunst und experimentellen Musik in und um Haus Kemnade
Das temporäre Kunstprojekt Kemnade klingt! lässt das barocke Haus Kemnade zum Spielort aktueller Klang- und Medienkunst werden. Die künstlerischen Interventionen erstrecken sich dabei auf die unterschiedlichen Funktionsbereiche des Hauses, beziehen die Präsentationsräume der Musikinstrumentensammlung ebenso sowie den Kunstvereinsraum, aber auch den Außenbereich mit ein. Als Werke der aktuellen Kunst treten sie in Wechselwirkung mit dem Bestehenden, nehmen formal wie inhaltlich auf das barocke Gebäude und den Bestand historischer Musikinstrumente Bezug, generieren neue Bedeutungsbeziehungen, stellen andere und unerwartete Kontexte her und eröffnen somit nicht zuletzt neue Perspektiven auf das Haus und seine Sammlung.

Die Ausstellung AUSWEITUNG DER LERNZONE ist ein Zusammenschluss und Tummelplatz von Lehrenden und Lernenden und wirft die unterschiedlichsten interdisziplinären Vernetzungen ins Rennen. Im Zentrum stehen Künstlerinnen und Wissenschaftlerinnen aus dem Mentoring-Programm der UdK, die durch eine einjährige Fortbildung in Verbindung mit der Hospitanz bei einem Mentor oder einer Mentorin nicht nur den künstlerischen Lehrberuf studieren, sondern auch die Strukturen institutioneller und persönlicher Organisation analysieren.

Exhibition opening of Springer, nochmals (Knight moves again), the 7th iteration of Probebühne, invites four international, Berlin-based artist to display works reflecting cultural and regional dissonances between times and places.
Mathilde ter Heijne will exhibit her multi-channel video titled Pulling Matter from Unknown Sources. The video installation documents her extensive research into togolese voodoo practices, to which she has served as an honorary priestess for rituals in Berlin.

In ihrer gemeinsamen Ausstellung bei after the butcher setzen sich Mathilde ter Heijne und Norbert Witzgall mit Aspekten und Konzepten des Nicht-Sichtbaren auseinander.
Ter Heijne untersucht soziale, kulturelle, politische und ökonomische Hintergründe gender-spezifischer Phänomene innerhalb verschiedener Gesellschaften und Kulturen und deren geschichtliche Entwicklung. In der Ausstellung bei after the butcher zeigt ter Heijne erstmalig Ergebnisse aus ihrer langjährigen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Voodoo-Priester Togbé Hounon Hounougbo Bahousou innerhalb des künstlerischen Kontextes.
Norbert Witzgall malt. Er reflektiert Konventionen von Malerei und Fotografie am Beispiel des Porträts. In seiner neuen Arbeit verwendet er Röntgenaufnahmen von Gemälden. Fotografie – hier als Grundlage der wissenschaftlicher Untersuchung von Malerei – wird erneut transformiert in Malerei.
Witzgall’s Malerei wird in der Ausstellung wiederum zur Projektionsfläche digitaler Bilder ter Heijnes. Bilder, die während einer Reise der Künstlerin nach Togo und Benin mit einer Infrarot- und Aurakamera (mit Hilfe von Daniela Macé Rosiger) entstanden sind. Auf diese Weise überlagern und verbinden sich subjektive, wissenschaftliche, und spekulative Formen der Bildproduktion.

Krome Gallery has a new space in Luxembourg, opening with an exhibition by Mathilde ter Heijne in dialogue with Marina Abramovic. „In dialogue with“ is a new series of exhibitions initiated by Krome Gallery to explore the affinity between a mid-career artist of the gallery and his/her conceptual reference. For the opening of the gallery’s new location in Luxembourg, Krome Gallery has invited Mathilde ter Heijne whose work is well-known for questioning different forms of performative gender politics. Her installations, video, sculpture and performance pieces have been exhibited in major international institutions such as MOMA PS1, New York; The Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich; and the The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Among the artist’s creative inspirations is Marina Abramovic, a performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s and whose work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. The exhibition will feature a selection of works by Mathilde ter Heijne, put in context with a seminal piece by Marina Abramovic. Simultaneously new works by Mathilde ter Heijne will be shown at Krome Gallery Berlin (Potsdamer Straße 98, 10785 Berlin).

Mathilde ter Heijne works mainly in the media of video, performance, sculpture and installation. In her work, she frequently deals with issues of gender and ritual practices. What will be represented and what not? Who will gain access to the larger process of writing history and who not? And how could these frames of reference and representation be subverted?
Mathilde ter Heijne’s ongoing project Woman to Go (since 2005) consists of a series of postcards showing portraits of anonymous women dating from the beginning of photography to the 1920s. On the message side of the postcards, biographies of other, more prominent women of the time can be read, whose lives evidently and at the same time ambiguously collide with those of the women portrayed in the pictures. The documentation of events that have been insufficiently documented and represented becomes the focal point of the work. Identity is what is at stake here and it only seems to become a freely disposable product – ready „to go“.
