Reindorfgasse 8
1150 Wien, Austria
Hosted by Mathilde ter Heijne (NL/DE) and Magda Tothova (SK/AT) with Nina Prader and Ruth Weismann Sound from Cherry Sunkist. On January 22, Ellador from Herland and a new Offred from Gilead will be our guests for one night at nadaLokal. Some of you have already met Ellador, who hails from an all-female society isolated somewhere in South America. She is still in Vienna with us, exploring the culture of European hospitality. Offred from our last evening moved further to England, but you will have the chance to meet the new Offred, also a refugee from Gilead. Offred is not her real name. She is a handmaid with special skills. Also this time you will have the chance to talk to Mathilde ter Heijne, who just recently came back from her time travel journeys. The evening will be hosted by Magda Tothova and Mathilde ter Heijne.

Galerie im Körnerpark
Opening: June 3, 2012, 12 p.m.
Duration: June 5, 2012 to July 22, 2012
Artists: Oreet Ashery (IL/GB), Mariana Castillo Deball (MX/DE), Chan Sook Choi (KR/DE), Kaspars Goba (LV), Nilbar Güres (TR), Bodil Furu (NO), Mathilde ter Heijne (NL/DE), J&K (Janne Schäfer, DE; Kristine Agergaard, DK), Nadin Reschke (DE), Maya Schweizer (FR/DE)
Curator: Dorothee Bienert
The exhibition utilises the event of this year’s 275th anniversary of the founding of the Bohemian village, one of the settlements of religious refugees in Berlin, to talk about the potential of cultural and religious diversity for the future of the immigration society. One of the most important preconditions for the productivity of cultural pluralism is the adherence to the human rights of freedom of religion and conscience. The artists‘ installations, photos and videos explore in very different ways issues of belief, diversity and tolerance/intolerance.

Once the former site of the car fleet of the Central Committees of the East German Government, today the area contains garages, an unemployed reintegration program, and many smaller businesses, including Mathilde ter Heijne’s studio.

„Any Day Now“ at Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz

January 21, 2011 to March 27, 2011
In the work of Dutch artist Mathilde ter Heijne, doubles assume a key role.
Using plaster casts of her face and hands, ter Heijne makes life-size dummies of her own image. These dummies then make appearances in her installations, sculptures, audio and video works, making it possible for the artist to take part in artistic disquisitions on such topics as pain and violence. They are also featured in the context of research on matriarchy and dream therapy.
